For more than 20 years I have been designing audio equipment in the high-end market. I would like to think that my musical background has tempered my Electronic Engineering degree in the success of these products. Today I would like to take what I have learned in making Audio amplifiers and apply them to the Guitar world.
As I have found in audio, Single Ended Amplifiers are far more musical than their Push Pull counterparts. Therefore all of the amplifiers here will be based on Single Ended Topology.
The studio series combo amplifier is unlike any guitar amplifier made today. All of the parts used in the design are the best available. From hand wound output and power transformers by MagneQuest to specialized capacitors such as Black Gate and Hovland. The design uses a single 12AX7A for the preamplifier and a single 6550 for the output power tube. The power supply is tube rectified by a 5AR4/GZ34. This amplifier is capable of producing 15Ws of power driving a single Celestion Blue Alnico 12" speaker. More than enough power to play in a studio, living room or small club. Dimensions (HxWxD): 24"x18"x9" Retail Price: $5,000 complete with padded cover |

The studio amplifier has the standard tone stack including, bass, mid and treble controls along with the volume control. On the back of the amplifier, there are outputs for an auxiliary 8 ohm speaker and either headphone or line output. There is also a switch to turn off the speaker for use when recording or listening through the headphones. Available in most popular hardwoods, enquire. |

Triode Combo Up until now all of the Guitar amplifiers that I have seen have used Pentodes as output tubes. Well if you look on my audio side of things you may note tubes which you have not seen before. The Triode Combo is a 300B Single-Ended guitar amplifier that has all the fixens. The Combo offers both Vibrato and Reverb to the package. Trying to utilize a different preamp section the Triode Combo uses a 12AX7, 12AU7 and a 12AY7 in the preamp. Tube rectification in the power supply full of Black Gates capacitors is handled by the 5AR4/GZ34. The combo also sports 2x12 speakers for higher output, either the Celestion G12 Greenback or the Celestion new G12 Century. Retail $5,000 complete with cover and dual foot switch. Tolex options, Black, Green, Red, Purple, White and Tweed |
Solo Combo The Solo is available in two configurations, either the electric (EC) or acoustic (AC). The Solo uses what is called parallel-feed output transformer technology. To my knowledge this is the only Guitar Amplifier on the market using this technology. Take the link to find out more... As with all my products the Solo uses a power supply with tube rectification. In this case the Solo uses the 6CA4/EZ81. The EC uses the Celestion Century Speaker and the AC uses 4 Eminence 6" drivers. This amplifiers uses the 6B4G output directly heated triode (DHT) for 5W's of power. The 6B4G is self biased and is used in a unique choke loaded input for more power. Standard options are either dual preamp (one tone, one bass & treble, volume for each) or single preamp and vibrato. Tube complement is the same for either with a single 12AX7 and EF86. Optionally there is also either a headphone or a line output, your choice! The choice of DHT for the output is simple. Using triodes instead of pentodes delivers more power effeciently and therefore sounds more powerful than pentodes amplifiers by a factor of 4 times. The Solo can also be made into several classic combo's, if you can think it you can make it. Make it your amplifier the way you want to play it. |
